My name: Marieke van Werkhoven, living in Leiden, mother of Fien and partner of Mark. After working as a lawyer (advocaat) for many years, I started working as a lawyer (jurist) at De Letselschade Raad in The Hague after my pregnancy; a job that can be easily combined with my passion for sports and teaching BodyPump, RPM and Spinning as a group instructor.
Besides teaching, I have been infected by the triathlon virus and I am training, under the professional guidance of Paul, for my first half triathlon. In addition, I am following training as a Personal Trainer to train my knowledge about the human body and nutrition to improve even more and hopefully also be able to go into practice as a Personal Trainer in the near future.
Working out is something I’ve done a lot all my life. I had the privilege of trying out various sports; tennis, ballet, horse riding, swimming. During my studies in Rotterdam I started rowing and the real ‘sports addiction’ had started. Training 6 days a week, on the water and inside the weight room and on the ergometer. It was there where cycling and running looked around the corner, which came up in a number of marathons and it came from the Mont Ventoux.
At Tri-PT I teach the Wattcycle d’Huez training. It is so beautiful that there are so many possibilities to do outdoor sports indoors. In a Wattcycling lesson you cycle on a Wattbike in your own training zones, based on power and heart rate. With the adjustable resistances, cycling outdoors can be simulated very well. Everyone can get in at their own level and work on their (cycling) condition. When Paul wanted me to be asked, I didn’t think twice about it. On Thursday evening you are therefore welcome at the Wattcycle d’Huez training.
Sport is, as I experience it, good for body and mind. Paul’s Tri-PT studio is an inspiring environment in which you can fully enjoy training. I am proud to be a part of this.
